Thanked: 04th Shave Oh Thank Heavens
Why oh why did I even mess around with that silly disposable blade thing...
I got my package today containing my new Dovo 5/8 half hollow round, GeoF limes cream, GeoF limes skin food, alum block, and strop.
What. A. Difference.
I still look like I came through a chainsaw factory during an earthquake but that is the other razor's fault+my inexperience. The second I touched the Dovo to my wounded flesh I knew it was going to be good. It slid up and down, back and forth did 3 passes even over my razor burns WITHOUT IRRITATING them. The control was much more manageable/forgiving and I gave myself a nice close shave. Finished with Skinfood then alum. No aftershave to speak of. Boy I feel great and whatever isn't wounded from earlier this week looks fantastic. My wife is quite impressed as am I.
Well, that's it, I'm hooked. I can see it now, in a few weeks I will probably have to relocate the dresser to make room for my new collection which I invariably will start. I always knew I liked the straight razor shave since I had a barber do it but having the control yourself to gently tug and shave each hair leaves me feeling very proud/satisfied of a job well done.
I guess you can all say I'm on the "straight and narrow" now (har de har harr)

Thanked: 443That's a great story. Welcome to better shaves and to SRP. I've been at it about four years now and just discovered a better path for shaving my neck. Tonight I'm trying something new around my chin. The improvements may get smaller with time, but there's no less joy in each one of them.
Best wishes to you."These aren't the droids you're looking for." "These aren't the droids we're looking for." "He can go about his business." "You can go about your business."
