Welcome to SRP!
congrats on the new purchase, I have a Dovo 5/8, and they're pretty good blades. As for lathering, you can either lather in the tub it came in OR in another bowl of your choosing. It's all preference. Some people choose to lather in their hand, face, or a bowl and apply it from there. Again, it's all what feels right. Lastly, for keeping the brush warm, I'm assuming you want to keep the actual lather warm, right? You can easily do this with what's known as a "Scuttle" which is a type of shaving bowl or you can place whatever dish you're currently using and put it in the sink and fill the sink up with hot water but don't let it get into the bowl. That will warm up the lather nicely! I remember seeing a video around here that showed how to go about it. Any questions, feel free to ask!

Welcome!
I had the same feeling after my first shave with my first "real" razor. I say real razor because I had purchased a cheap razor that didn't shave well at all and it was extremely painful. So I made the investment to get a nicer, entry level razor. Anyway, my first shave with it I was like, "OMG it cuts my whiskers off like butter!!" I just couldn't believe how much better it was than I had originally envisioned. I mean, I was expecting the experience to be different, maybe a little tugging, and of course a nick or two on my first few times. But it exceeded my expectations, even for my first shave!
As for the lathering of the soap, I use a coffee mug and put the puck in there and build the lather in the mug. I just leave mine on the counter while I shave. I have heard of some people leaving the mug in the sink (not submerged), to keep the lather warm. This is where a scuttle would come in handy. Or you could get a small dish, with hot water and keep your mug in there. I don't keep mine in the sink because I fill the sink with hot water to rinse the lather off my razor. Some people use a towel to wipe it on instead, if that is the case you could keep a little pool of hot water in the sink to keep your mug/brush in while you shave. There are too many ways to go about your shave and none of them are wrong. Do what you like and what works for you.
