Default Addicted to Tabac... other recommendations for good protective soaps?

Hey guys... about 2 mos. into straight razor shaving now and I've discovered Tabac soap. It works GREAT with me and I don't mind the smell in the least. But when I return to my previous soap, it DEFINITELY feel the difference. I'm sure I need to have my blade rehoned or something BUT...

does anyone have any other recommendations for soaps that are tallow based or have similar properties?

so far, it's GREATLY improved my experiences using Tabac!

    Thanks!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record in these threads, I highly recommend the RazoRock soaps. All lather great and have wonderful scents. The Artisan line are especially good and are tallow based.

Don't worry, lots of Tabac fans 'round these parts. I'm one of them

I love tallow-based soaps as well and while I'm sure there are many more, two of my favourites are Mitchell's Wool Fat and DR Harris. I will warn you that Harris supposedly reformulated, so I'm not 100% certain the new stuff is made with tallow (mine is).

MWF is something you should try. Institut Karite is another. Martin de Candre is my favorite at this time. Valobra, Speick, and Palmolive as well as Lea and Cella should all be on your list.

PM me and I will Pif you some tallow based soaps try out.

    It just keeps getting better.

I've looked at 3-4 sites for the Tabac about which I've heard good things but all seem to be out of stock at this time. I'll keep checking back. It's not like there is a shortage of things to try in the meantime!

I have not tried Tabac, I know better! I will eventually try it. I am a RazoRock fan. As an observation: we are in a position to view and ask about many different soaps. The way they lather, etc. Good Days! We are lucky!

Hi! If you love Tabac, which I also love, you would like Mikes Natural Soap and Mitchel Wool Fat. They both have tallow, like Tabac, and Mike's has lanolin. They are every bit as protective and slick as Tabac. The only thing is they are not as easy to lather, but once you diled them up, you would love them as I do. They give me a variety of scents to pick from, depending on my mood that day.

From Mike's I like ( in this order) Lemongrass/eucaliptus, Orange/ pepper/cedar, lime. Have tried barbershop, Hungarian lavender, unscented, they have the slickness and protectiveness, but the scent dosen't do much for me like the others. Haven't tried the Bay rum and some others new ones he have in his site.

Have fun with it all! Double O
