Finally a good shave..... and an idea for Zeepk
I had purchased some razors on ebay some time ago and finally got my norton after trying to hone them up on a 12000 grit chinese stone.
I was only able to get three of the 6 anywhere near sharp. today I did the first shave with a double duck goldedge. No nicks, decent shave on the cheeks and part of the neck. Still need some hone or strop work to get it perfect.
I found neck shaving difficult. My beard grows from left to rignt. The center and areas around the center of the neck are pretty rough still. I know my technique is needing some serious help.
That's when I though of the Zeepks (I got two with some other razors in an auction). I'm going to take one and use the edge of the 12000 grit stone and dull that guppy to the point where you have to bear down to cut butter. I can then use it to hone technique without looking like I got in a fight with Freddy Kreuger.
The Zeepk will help me with hand and razor manipulation which is still pretty new and awkward to me. Hopefully I don't create any bad habits.Last edited by kimo; 11-25-2006 at 02:37 PM.

so you're thinking of dulling down a razor to perfect your shaving technique by shaving with that said dull razor? That seems like a bad idea to me.
I think you'll get nicks everywhere, it'll teach you a different technique (because it pulls too much rather than cutting through) and it'll get you accidental 'pulling slices'. But I'm no expert.

I don't think he wants to shave with it. I understood the idea to be dull it so much it won't cut hair or flesh, and then just use the dull blade to practice the moves across the face.
Seems like a good idea. I just learn by cutting myself. When I see red dripping I know I need to work on that part of my technique.

This is actually a very good suggestion.
As silly as it sounds, I have taken a butter knife and have tried to work on my off hand technique getting to those tough spots. Its always easy with a butter knife but then you relather and pick up the razor and its a different grip and you have to "split" your fingers on either side of the scales so it doesnt feel the same at all. I now have a use for that Pakistani razor.

Peter, just use it as a letter opener. It should be ok for cutting paper.

Well, the second razor I honed was a Keystone..... ya probly never heard of it.
It was an extremely smooth shave with zero pulling.
I still have issues with the neck but the Zeepk...which I now call my technique razor, is helping. It is now so dull it glides across my dry face and is perfect for learning how to contort.

Sounds like a good idea for someone just starting out to develope the use of there other hand they are not used to using befor going at it with a real straight edge. I myself have bought some of those Zeepk razors at first befor I knew better. but thats not a bad idea. I still have several if any newbies whant one for that use I'd let them have one for $5.00 plus s/h. just PM me.
