SRP friendships!
Hello all!
By all I mean newbie’s/veteran shavers/Mods/Lynn ‘EVERONE!
I thought that I’d address something different/more than what we learn about shaving and razors here at SRP something more important than shaving!
That ‘something’ is called ‘Friendship’! Through this forum I’ve made several friends! We’ve exchanged ideas via email and phone, honed each other’s razors and helped each other however we could! While most of us have never met and probably never will some of us have! What a thrill!
I’m no Thurston Howell but I’ve helped some friends with getting started in honing or a razor purchase. I’ve always been paid back both financially and emotionally! The rewards of hearing of their success with honing/stropping or a great shave with a razor I helped them get can’t be described!!
My father died 13 years ago and my mother passed away a little over a week ago. When my friends here were told the outpouring of condolences and support was touching and outstanding! I’ve thanked them all!
When you start down the road on an unknown destination you never know where you will end up! I’m glad that when I started my journey here at SRP my destination ended up not only gaining knowledge of shaving/honing/stropping a straight razor, but the friendship and fellowship that I value so much!

Thanked: 13245This is the part of SRP that I think makes us the best, I have to agree with my friend Roy here this hobby seems to bring many different people together over a common interest..
I have had the pleasure of meeting many of our members in person at the Get Togethers, talking with many more on the phone, and made countless e-mail friends.. it amazes me that something so simple as shaving our face in the morning has brought together such a great group of people...
BTW Roy can't wait to see you and Conner at the Inland NW meetup in Oct

Thanked: 443I agree. The main reason I spend time here is that there's something about this sort of shaving that filters the world, and I'm more likely to meet like-minded, generous folks here than I do out in my normal workday. And I strongly suspect that we're as nice offscreen as we are onscreen. And maybe as peculiar, too, and I mean that in the best way.
"These aren't the droids you're looking for." "These aren't the droids we're looking for." "He can go about his business." "You can go about your business."

I am in full agreement Roy. While I am rarely able to engage here with the drain of school, I have made a number of friends and am glad to include you in that designation.
I am truly sorry to hear about your mother, I would have responded earlier if I were aware. Take care and I hope to see you both at the end of this summer.

Great thread Roy! Didn't know you went through that rough patch, my sympathies man, hang in there. I'm on a lot of forums for the many hobbies I have, yet this forum is different from all the others. Lots of different people on here but everybody is so caring. I've gone through a lot of rough patches as well (not as bad compared to others) and I posted on here about those things and LOADS of people took the time to give me help and advice, even when I was freaking out like crazy haha. And I've me some incredible people on here who have giving me the kindest words and the best motivation. It really is funny how shaving your face the old fashioned way brings gents together.

Roy - You have stated so well feelings that have connected this group thru a jorney of trial and error, learning from mistakes and experiencing the joys of success. I, for one, am honored by the fine men on this site and I hope, in a small way, to continue the process.
Sorry about your loss, Roy. God bless!!
