    Default Water! Where?

i watched a youtube vid with a guy called geofatboy on stropping. In it he mentions something called a waterline on the edge of the razor blade and that a razor should dry for 24 to 48 hours between uses. so what is it and why is it important to let the razor dry for so long? (Google was no help) mentions it at about 1:30

He is actually talking about letting the razor rest. Some people believe that the steel repairs its self if you let it rest. I dont get what the big deal is, because barbers back in the day used their razors constantly and never had any problem, so it is mostly just speculation..

PS. as for drying the razor. I take an old t shirt and wipe off all of the wisible water, then take a hairdryer and blast it with that for about 20 seconds. The i old the blade. Works for me!

Yeah, I never needed to do that either. The hair at the bottom of my sideburn has plenty of grip.

Just another shaver with his own opinions.

I don't do any of that stuff. Just make sure your razor is dry before putting it away after use especially the pivot area.

I believe in one video he mentions that this action allows him to see where to start and thereby keeps his burns even. At least that is how I interpreted it, and I adopted this practice with good results.

Opinions vary, but I like to see where I started before and continue on that theme.

As for resting steel...no rest for my steel, I want to exercise it frequently to keep it strong and in shape LOL

Yeah that is for keeping the burns even. Never had to do it. I prefer knowing the feel of the razor.
