I can't get a third of my head done before the blade is so dull that stropping won't even bring it back. I just use a DE and change blades at least once a shave. I'm a little jealous that you can get yurt whole head.

Sorry, it wasn't meant to freak you out! Perhaps you are not quite ready to tackle the head yet but don't give up - one day you will know the joy of using a straight razor on a smooth head!

Have you tried different grinds to see what they can cope with? Clearly you must have very thick hair. Mine is almost non-existent on top, but grows thickly around the back and sides. The other issue is blade angle, but I am assuming you have that under control? My trick is to basically do it every day so that it doesn't get too unmanageable. I can use the same razor I do my face with on my head or vice-versa (but I mainly do the head after the face) with just a stropping in between.

I only had full hollows when I tried it before, though I've got a half hollow now I may give it a shot with. I haven't found a wedge yet, though I'm in the lookout all the time for one. After dulling few different blades I quit trying. The angle isn't a problem, I just have too much hair. Not that it's too thick, just too many hairs per inch and too many growing from every follicle.

I run my head down with clippers and no guard once a week and I shave it that day. I don't know if it would go easier if I did it more often, but it's harder to find the time on weekdays.

Well that's fair enough. Perhaps when you find one, try a wedge. Some people find them better on the head - personally it makes no difference for me, except that on some wedges with very wide bevels they can stick to my head a little!

I also realise that time is an issue, but I have my head shave down to under 5 minutes nowadays (probably closer to 4 minutes, but I've never had a need to time it). With practice, time ceases to be an issue.
