Default shaving with moles, birthmarks, etc.

I just ordered my first setup from Tony. I haven't heard it discussed here before, but how big of an issue is it to shave if you have a mole or birthmark? I have a small mole on my neck, slightly raised. I currently shave over it with my mach3 no problem. I'm going to steer clear of it at the beginning anyway, but I'm wondering if I'll be able to shave over it once my technique is good.

Either way, I'll probably see about getting it removed in the near future...

    Thanks for the input.

I have one next to my ear and never had issues with going over it with a blade. It's small, about 2-3mm diameter and slightly raised.

If the mole is relatively flat, or even slightly raised (and flush with the surrounding skin), you shouldn't have any problem shaving over it. If it is pedunculated (has a stalk) or is like a skin tag, then you might wish to avoid shaving over it as you may end up removing it yourself.

if they're elevated a bit, go very lightly over them. They'll probably bleed at first, since in my experience so far that particular type of skin is of a much more fragile kind than your "normal" skin. After a few shaves your mole will 'toughen up' and you should be able to shave over it better.

At least that's how it's been for me.

Ah yes but those razors are much too rare and valuable for everyday use. Those guys who sell them have no idea how valuable they are and almost give them away.

In the old days, before dermatologists, moles were removed by barbers. The guild of barber surgeons I believe they were called. They also did blood letting. What a bunch of weenies we've all become! I say just whack the moles right off!

Actually their venom is pretty good if you have clots forming in your blood-stream.
