I think most guys paste with 9µ, 3µ & 1µ on tan leather, leaving the last side clean for daily stropping on the red latigo.

If you want to get another razor,. that'd be fin, but just make sure you get a shave ready razor from one of our other members here so that you can start shaving right away and not have to have it honed. There are some AWESOME refurbished razors which get sold around here.

A properly used pasted strop will extend the time between trips to the hone. Some of us like honing and only use pastes as a final step in the honing process.
