Thanked: 2209Another new guy in Minnesota
Hello all. Today I had the pleasure of meeting another SRP new guy, Minnebrerw ( Scott O'Brien).
Scott brought along a vintage straight razor that he had purchased recently that needed some TLC.
So we looked it over and decided on a plan. Today I simply took and cleaned, sanded & buffed the blade.
Here is the end result........
Next he will be ordering a set of scales and then come back over & we will take off the old scales, install the new ones and then hone the razor.
Here is a pic of Scott...
Scott and I talked about a number of things like hones, beard prep, shaving technique etc.
I am making this thread to encourage you new guys to link up with other established SRP members in your area. It shortens your learning curve and brings you in touch with other straight shavers.Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin

Thanks everyone. Meeting with Randy was a lot of fun. Only quick correction is the name is Robert not Scott but no harm done.
The razor's transformation into looking new again is very impressive. Now just need to decide on scales!
Looking forward to learning to shave with it.

Thanked: 1Welcome new Minnesota member! I'm also new, so far about 4 shaves in with my vintage EAB, strop from Straight Razors for Sale | Straight Razors for Sale (sorry SRP, they are in MN), and assorted shaving supplies. Good luck! I wish I would have had the time to meet with Randy when I was in St. Paul, any established SRP members near Duluth?
