Thread: Quality

Being new to the straight razor world I was wondering is a Dovo a Dovo? If i spend 125 on my Dovo Special new or 265 on a Dovo best class and am I paying for looks or is the quality of the blade better?

I cannot comment on the steel for sure, (edit to leave it at that).

Beyond that, you will pay for adornments such as gold wash, spine work, pretty handles, etc. BUT ALSO there are some differences in blade style. Some of us develop preferences for things like a shoulderless design (which makes honing and stropping a bit easier).

At first, everything looks the same, but after a while you start to notice subtle differences that you would be willing to pay for.

PS In a nut shell, all of the Dovos in the current line should be equally capable of taking a fantastic edge and giving you a great shaving experience...it really boils down to individual needs/wants/preferences.
