Thanked: 0Looking for help in ellensburg
I have just recently moved to ellensburg, WA in order to go to CWU and was wondering if there was anyone in the area that could help teach me how to hone a razor and what products would be best for it. I have everything necessary to shave and have A hone, but i dont know if it's any good or if it's even the right kind. is there anyone who would be willing to meet up with me?

Thanked: 443Look at the Calendar link, in the middle of the standing links in the upper left of the page.
You're in great luck that this meeting is happening close by. We'll have Glen in Denver next weekend, and I'm happily driving four hours to be there.
Best wishes to you."These aren't the droids you're looking for." "These aren't the droids we're looking for." "He can go about his business." "You can go about your business."

I'm in Yakima and I'm pretty new to this as well but I've been able to take a couple used, dull, general razor to shaving sharp without a lot of issues and am getting small improvements each time I do it again. I watched all the videos I could find from this site and Google in general and went from there. I believe the other Meet out here is/was in Yakima in June. Bummed I didn't know about it this year but hoping it will still be here next year... I have a nice barbecue, a smoker and a big porch!
I'd be happy to bounce ideas off with you. I'm currently using Norton 220/1k, 4k/8k and a paddle strop with diamond spray on one side and chromium oxide on the other. I have an old strop I picked up at an Antique Store and have reconditioned it well enough for pre/post shaving pretty easily. I have just ordered a Naniwa 12k and then my next hurdle will be better strops... But, I'm shaving weekly with what I'm sharpening now as well as a rotation of blades I've gotten from Classifieds here!

Sure... I will shoot you a PM and we can work it out. Judging by the time of your post you didn't make it to the Spokane Meet? That would have been the place to gain serious knowledge!
