    I bought some Goddard's metal polish, I can't get the marks out.

    That's the key, you oil it after it's dry, then put in the box. If it's still little wet and you oil it you don't avoid oxidization, same if you put it in the box and it's not perfectly dry.
    After it's dry the oil ptotects the razor from humidity changes.

    If you live in a dry state the oil is not a big deal... Buy a test tube rack off amazon.. They work great for razor storage and the razor is surrounded by air so it will dry quicker, and stay that way

    Any hints on how to get the marks off, polish has not worked.

    This is the best metal polish I have ever used and should fetch those stains off with a few mins elbow grease.
    Also I use vaseline on my razors instead of oil and it has always worked a treat. Just keep a small rag impregnated with vaseline and give the razor a quick wipe after drying.

    +1 for the Autosol, it's the best metal polish you can buy in the UK.
