Default Help in Winnipeg MB Canada

    Hey guys,

I just started straight razor shaving, probably have about 5 shaves under my belt and so far it is going really well. Only have one bad shave and no cuts of any kind to report. It's save to say that at this point I really enjoy it, much more so than boring disposable shaving, ill never go back. What I would like to know is if there is anyone in frigid Winnipeg with some knowledge on local places to find either new or used blades, places for soaps, lathers, brushes etc. and importantly, a place to get blades honed? Basically everything haha. I have what seems to be about a 7/16 challenge cutlery blade that I like, but would like to buy a second razor, preferably a bigger one. I am talking with another member now, so a deal is pending, but would also like to hear of local options.

    Thanks in advance guys

Well... welcome and good-luck! It's hard to find local products, never-mind services...

In the small city that I live in, in an effort to find "local," I began asking every barber I could find if they could hone a blade, and where they got their stuff. Alas I found that it was next to impossible where I live so I quickly learned the joys of honing and shopping on-line!

A computer and a credit card can get you the finest of services and the best products out there! And I do mean the best. If you don't have a credit card things are going to be tough!

I'll take a wild stab at a number here, and bet that at min, 90% of us guys shop on-line.

All the best of luck brother!

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the vendor and Classified ads here on SRP.
Another option is to join the Cutthroat Canucks community here on SRP to find who's in Manitoba.

    Socrates,
If you cannot find anything in the area you are welcome to send your razor for honing to us in Ontario. But I am almost certain there is a Barber Supply store in your area with an owner by the name of Eddie. For the life of me I cannot remember his business name but I do know there is only 3 in your city so you might want to check the yellow pages and call each of the three. Good luck on your search!

    Kind Regards,
    Phil & Jane

Thanks guys. And you can't cheer for the Jets when there is no hockey haha.

I have heard about Eddie, I contacted him. Knowing that you've heard about him makes me feel much better about getting my razors honed with him in the future.
