Thanked: 1Perhaps that's the route to go for now, considering the options for cheap straight razors are so limited. I think there was a cheap set for sale on the classifieds here, so it's something I'll think about. The option for a quicker shave in the morning would be nice too if a straight comes along down the road...

Be careful. DE does not me necessarily mean quick. DE razors are huge topic in themselves. You cannot whisk most DEs over your face either. Blade shaving requires some concentration and you definitely don't want to rush. A razor blade is as sharp if not sharper in some cases than a straight. It is easier to cut yourself with a DE. If you go with blade shaving you will want to take the time to do it right, otherwise stick to carts.
