From RAD to EGAD!
It wasn't all that long ago that I was mostly unaware of the current trend of straight razor shaving. This all started with a $15 Brush/Cup/Soap combo. Around 9 months after that humble start I stumbled across some random videos and SRP. Not long after that I made my first Craigslist score on a Straight... And the ball has sure kept right on rollin'!
So, I came up with a new acronym:
EGAD - Extreme Gear Acquisition Disorder

Man you got it bad!
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

Holy crap lol! My wife would not ever let me have that much
What's that razor holder made of? Did you make or buy that? The shiny bluish fabric... I need to figure out what to get once I get past my two razors.

There's one pissed off bald badger somewhere right now.

Thanked: 433You got it bad!! I'm right with you on Razors and stones, I barely can pass one up. Luckily I'm at a point where I sell more than go into the collection

lol... Yeah, definitely some sort of affliction, for sure! But, it's mostly rolling money from one hobby to the next which is the survival factor with my wife... Started years back with Knives... sold most... Bought Guns... sold most... Bought Bicycles... sold all but one... Bought Golf Clubs/Started Failed Golf Club Building Small Business... sold stock/kept mine and wife's sets/some extra putters... Bought Classic Honda Choppers/Stock Bikes... sold all/never rode due to medical problems/learned quite a bit... Bummed out for a little over a year... Energy from mc failure kept building... Found Straight Razors (.. all this among Hunting years past/fishing more recently/lotsa Golfing..) and all that energy reached a critical point and exploded! Starting to do Restores has slowed me down quite a bit but eBay is just seriously addicting... Every time I set a new lower price limit I find razors in it or I'll find bundles or something someone has titled weird and nobody is bidding... Had to start keeping a blade to hand polish as I was watching TV just so I didn't check the Net.
Wife is mostly on board just cause she knows I'll go nuts and take her with me!
She actually made/sewed that Roll-Up carrier when I was collecting knives. Works GREAT for Razors! The outside is like a light denim material, the bright, shiny blue is velour-ish and it has a velcro/D-Ring closure so rolls up into a fairly tight package and protects them well.
Wife is into Photography so we end up driving around, up in the hills looking for stuff for her to shoot.
Fall/Winter is a crazy time as I'll get a terminal case of Cabin Fever if I don't have something to do... This will DEFINITELY keep me busy awhile!

Something else I use for justification and that my wife 'sorta' buys is that I've been shaving my own head for about 5 years now instead of paying $20/month going to the Barber twice each month for Flat Tops. So, that is well over a grand (.. not counting inflation as Cuts went up..) that would have been spent similarly anyway.
