    Default First Shave!

No it's not for myself. I'm posting on behalf of my FIL who received an antique Böker straight razor, Tony Miller strop and bar of C&E Nomad soap for Father's Day (yup, that's last May) and finally took the plunge to his first shave on Saturday. He was sporting a nick at his jawline on the left side of his face where he confessed having trouble with that hand (oddly, as he's somewhat ambidextrous and writes with his left hand). Last week with several days growth on he told me he'd given up on shaving entirely and then this happens. So I might actually be responsible for a conversion. Time will remain the ultimate test. Time and patience coming in handy yet again.

Isn't that one of the FIRST things a responsible adult should mention?

The FIL came over today with his middle finger bandaged. He had just started stropping when the thought crossed his mind that he hadn't rubbed his hand on the strop that day and without closing his razor he slipped it into his other hand and on the first palming jammed his finger into the blade. I'm thinking it may be best to provide him with Lynn's DVD. I'd never hear the end of it if he really hurt himself.

yep! The DVD or you may be sorry... he seems in serious need of help

I have to say I am scared to convert my friends. Gave one of them the C&E brush and Nomad for Xmas, and he says he likes them - but I am a bit concerned about giving him a straight and strop...

    Cheers

forgot to say: he says he used a brush and cream in the Red Army (Russian) and the cream smelled exactly like Nomad - got me bug-eyed... I think he's just plain wrong but as long as he enjoys it - fine by me
