Shopping
I have learned so much here - thank you!
I'm wondering where are good shops which sell shaving gear. I mean I know we all have online resources. But I read about the many soaps, razors, etc and I wish I knew of a shop I could visit. I even go to Target looking in the Mens shaving section - or I will look for Burts Bees products. I was wondering if anyone knows some place where you can actually browse. I know of:
Art of Shaving - all shaving stuff (obviously)
The Knife Shop - a few straight razors and strops
Antique Shops - the one near me had nothing
Are there other shops which might surprise me that they carry shaving products (soaps, bowls, strops, razors)?

Thanked: 275There's "House of Knives", which has some shaving stuff. They're in Canada, and I think they started in the US.
. . . Where are you?
Charles. . . . . Mindful shaving, for a better world.

LOL - yeah it would really help to know where you are. The big department stores in my small part of the world have a very... and I mean very limited amount of products.
I think you'll find that if you are going to get into wet-shaving, you'll probably end up shopping on line unless you are fortunate enough to live in a large city - and even then...David

Bath & Bodyworks sells C.O. Bigelow shaving cream for a decent price, it's a good entry level cream. You might try a high-end tabacco shop, sometimes they sell shaving gear and accessories. The one near me sells Dovo straights and strops, Merkur DE & SE, and Col. Conk soaps and aftershaves. Sally's Beauty Supply is a good place to pick up Clubman Pinaud and Masters' Bay Rum aftershave. Hope this helps.

Thanked: 2284Antique stores can be hit or miss. But I've had some really good hits on vintage blades and even a vintage Plisson brush. To find more antique stores, I find that most of them are located in smaller towns on the way to cottage country. At least here in Ontario that's how it goes. Also try gentleman stores like cigar shops. Ive had luck at one in my area that had a lot of shaving products. Hope this helps a bit.

Ya the Knife Shop I mentioned above has some Dovo's, Col Conk soap, etc. And I'm sure I will do the vast majority of shopping online. Just asking to see if there were any surprises I wouldn't expect (like Bath and Bodyworks )Last edited by EggSuckingLeech; 10-25-2012 at 02:44 AM.
