Thanked: 8The shaving gods have spoken
So before I researched properly I bought a too good to be true "deal", which I have been attempting to learn with until my razors from Larry @ Whipped Dog arrive.
Tonight the shaving gods spoke when I smacked it into the tap (faucet?).
Looks like I'm going to have to be patient and wait until my properly honed shave ready razors arrive...
At least I can keep practicing making lather.
Hopefully my phone behaves and the picture works.

Thanked: 983Well, think yourself lucky you did that with your 'practice' razor. Now, to ingrain the lesson in your mind, set to and hone those dings out back to a 'shave-ready' (or there abouts) edge. When you see how long that takes, you'll promise yourself to never, ever make that mistake again! Voice of experience speaking here.

It's all good, everybody and I mean everybody has/will do it eventually. Yours looks pretty minor, and on your practice razor as well; I would count myself lucky. I dinged my most expensive razor when my fubar decided to rear its ugly head. That is a feeling of disbelief, anger, and stupidity like no other... pretty much like this lol!
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

It's kind of like the Polio vaccine. If you smack your razor into the faucet once, that is a learning experience that will serve you for a lifetime. I know, and I did it with one I had just put my best edge on.

Definitely glad it wasn't a good edge to start with! Won't be honing it any time soon as I've already got the makings of RAD (1 + 2 coming) & Strop AD (2 leather, 1 linen + 1 leather and a balsa coming) so buying hones will cause me trouble with the household financial controller and she doesn't fully know what I've bought yet.
