Thanked: 0Noobs First Post--
--sorta..
This is actually my second, but that was 10 minutes ago.
Just wanted to say 'hi'.
I'm new to straight razors, and this forum. I have picked up a couple razors off ebay, as well as one locally. The sharpest of the bunch was sold as shave ready, but I've since learned the wide range of things that statement can mean. I'm good with the stones on knives, and have japanese waterstones up to 12000 grit, and have just gotten a starter strop, as well as Bill Ellis' CD, and am in the process of learning the art of honing and stropping. I have PM'd Joe Chandler about getting a honed blade from him, as a sharpness benchmark, as well as something to start out shaving with, until I 'get' the art of honing/stropping. I can't wait to get something in my hand that I can actulaay do more than my cheeks with!
Here's the ebay razors I picked up recently, the W & B is sort of a project. I stabilized the crack in the scales with CA, and sanded/polished the scales(horn), and blade.

The one I picked up locally is a french 6/8 round point horn scale, by A. Aubin(anybody???), great condition, in an old strop-sided carrying case. Sorry, my camera's out of order, or I'd send a pic. of that one, as well as the after pic. of the W & B. It cleaned up quite nice, although I think it might have started life as a wider razor(it's super-thick).
Anyway, so now y'all know me!

Hi Rick and welcome. The Norton 4K/8K was my first stone and it still serves me well on eBay razors.
