Thanked: 2My NOS Wapi arrived today.
I ordered a NOS Wapi from a seller I found in Poland. I was astonished. It seems pretty sharp. It shaved a section of arm hair with easy. The entire razor has a mirrored finish with an ever so slight tarnish or oil stain on the blade (second last picture). It took me a while to notice it that's how minor it is. There does not seem to be any score marks from honing and general use.
Here are some pictures. I felt like sharing my find.

Nice razor. I have been wanting to get one after all the positive remarks towards them.

Thanked: 2Thanks. With some luck I will be sending it off tomorrow to Mastro Livi for honing here in Italy. I have more razors waiting for me back in Canada.

Thanked: 1262Be careful, looks like the heel is falling apart due to rust?
as an aside, This NOS stuff is getting out of hand. How do you verify a wapi is NOS if there is not documents/box/etc..?

I agree with above about NOS razors. Unless the razor is still sealed and unopened in the original packaging it isn't NOS to me, but I am pretty sure most of the Wapi razors that I have seen for sale stating NOS were still in the packaging.

The funny thing with NOS razors is that if it is sealed up still you pay alot more than one that isn't sealed and never been honed, but unless your going to stick the NOS razor in a display case and never use it you are going to have to open it up to use it. Once it is opened it is the same as the ones that weren't sealed and never been honed. Feels to me that you are just paying extra to open a sealed package. The wapi razors are usually reasonably priced for an unused razor. Not as reasonable as they used to be from what I keep reading. If only I started using a straight along time ago.

Thanked: 2The price was attractive. I was looking for something unused that had good reviews on performance. All in all I am happy. It is pretty sharp but I am going to have it professionaly honed just in case. That way I know what to expect from a honed blade and have a reference point
.
I also have a Wapi in the mail from ClassicEdge.com that I am waiting on with some other goodies.

Of course all Wapi's are either used or NOS since they haven't made them in years.
They have been discussed around here ad infinitum and many do like them. Personally, for me there are plenty of used quality razors designed to be used as a straight for shaving so I wouldn't consider a razor designed for surgery preparation.
