    It sounds like a pretty reasonable first shave - the important thing on that first shave is to survive without major injury.

    Keep in mind that your technique is almost nonexistent right now, so you're unlikely to get great shaves. The tugging is almost certainly mostly a technique issue and will solve itself over time. As for the soap drying out you're shaving pretty slowly right now, so it's got more time to dry out than it will in a few weeks, although Williams needs to be made fairly wet to avoid drying out anyway - it doesn't have quite as much oil in it as the more expensive english soaps. However, it's not a big deal to rewet your lather every now and then during the pass. I've got some places on my face that are pretty tough so I put off shaving them till the last part of the pass, and rewet them several times during the pass just to make sure they get as soft as possible before the razor has to deal with them.
