Thanked: 0Greetings all
I've been using an electric shaver for many years now. I always got bad razor rash and a friend told me electric was the way to go. I've always been dismayed by the job it does on my neck.
When I lived in Viet Nam I had a barber shave me every two days. I was thoroughly impressed by the perfect job on my neck and the perfect skin it gave me.
I recently bought a replaceable straight razor to style my moustache for Movember. I haven't got perfect results on my neck yet (I find it hard to get the razor in the right position to shave in the direction of the hair growth). I also keep nicking myself and have got the worst razor rash I've ever had. Nevertheless I will persevere.
I'm very happy that I found this website. I hope the information it gives me will have me shaving as well as a barber.

You will get to that point but it does take time. Keep at it. Also welcome to SRP.

If you're nicking yourself and getting razor burn, you're probably either:
. . . using too much pressure on the blade (very, very common problem), or
. . . Holding the blade at too high an angle to your skin.
To get the angle right:
. . . hold the blade flat against your skin, and lift the spine just enough so that the edge cuts hair when you take a stroke.
Good luck, report back - -
