If the blades were vintage I'd take Boker over Dovo in a heart beat. But new razors I'm not sure about. Some one else that has experience with new blades will have to chime in on that subject.

Thanked: 0I've seen this mentioned a few times...but I also read that I
should avoid auctions until I know what I am looking at.
Am I better offlooking at something like this, and then sending it to SRD for sharpening?

Ritchy,
Did you look at the razors in our "Classified" section.?
Beautiful razors at prices that cannot be beat.
There is nothing like a vintage razor of 100 years, back on the line getting the job done.

Thanked: 0I do like the idea of starting there, for the price, but am uncertain due to lack of knowledge...would this be a good starter?

Ritchy,
It would not be fare or proper to value one member's razor in the classified section, over another member's razor.
I can tell you, that I looked at the razors in the classified section, at least 4 times today & did not see one that was not a good shaver. They will all do fine.

Thanked: 1263You will do just fine with any that you posted in the original post. Nice new razors that come shave ready...exactly what you're looking for to get you started on your journey and eliminate any doubts of if its sharp enough. And then, you can go on from there.

I thought about getting the Dovo Astrale at first myself but then I changed my mind and got the Dovo Natural instead.

I am bought my first razor just yesterday actually so I am not a good person to ask about what blades are better then others, so I just let someone else do the work for me! I ordered mine from whipped dog. I will probably get it next week, but from what I have heard he is a great guy to get your first straight from.

Thanked: 2284Ritchy, In my opinion everything you've listed is good quality stuff. Any of those selections will turn out to be a great razor. If your unsure about anything, my only advice is to type it in the google custom search at the top there and read, read, read. This site is piled high with information. Hope this helps.
