Hello All! I am new to straight razor shaving! Im getting the hang of everything and I know it will take awhile. I dont know if I am using the strop correctly. I have heard several different methods and I would like to do this correctly.
- Do you strop first with the linen and then on the leather?
- Is it necessary to use strop paste or just condition the strop?
- How many repetitions on each linen and leather?
- How do you know if the Razor is shave ready?
I dont have a stone and dont know if I need to get one as of yet. I dont want to over complicate all of this.......just want to know if I am doing everything correct?
Thanks

HI! Im a beginner too, but I can tell you that you have come to the right place. There is a stropping section towards the bottom of the main page. I also found it VERY helpful to visit the library Straight Razor Place Wiki - Straight Razor Place Wiki
There is tons of reading material here and you can learn a great deal just by reading. The people here a very helpful and seem genuinely excited to help newcomers like us. I would also recommend reading the terms of service and you should be good to go. Nice to see I am not the only noob around.

Start here boys . . . Category:Stropping - Straight Razor Place Wiki
When you finish that, try and read as much other good advise on the Wiki as your eyeballs can handle. My rule of thunb is NO paste on my daily strop, 30 laps on the cloth, 60 on leather. Hope that helps a little bit. Stay with it, it's a traveling adventure that is worth the ride.Any day on this side of the flowers is a good day!
