Thanked: 1brand New, professionally sharpened, shave tested and disinfected.
I just had my first shave with my new razor that i bought, a professionally sharpened boker s/s 5/8" razor.the web site said it was shave tested and disinfected, i was wondering how they do this(disinfect) and is it safe? The reason i ask the question is that i was reading on here a thread asking if straight razors can be carriers of disease(this was after my first shave), and also that i knicked myself when i had my shave.
Apart from being a little paranoid about this, i really enjoyed the experience thus far and i am actually looking forward to my next shave (which is unusual for me as i dont like shaving normally).

Thanked: 2591Barbicide is a common disinfectant used in barber shops for disinfecting combs and shears for example.
Steel is not friendly environment for living organisms so transferring deceases via clean razor blade is highly unlikely.Stefan

Also during honing metal is removed from the cutting edge of the blade so whatever was on there from the previous owner is gone.
