Thread: Olive oil as skin treatment

I was talking to my doctor today and got on the subject of sr shaving and skin care. He says more and more studies show that a tiny bit of olive oil will do wonders on ur skin. It had antioxidents and will revitalize as well as regenerate skun cells and restore elasticity. My question is how can you incorporate this into your shaving routine? A drop or two with your soap or cream to create slickness? An after shave treatment? Pre shave?

The benefits of olive oil sound wonderful. I think I'll start bathing in it.

Perhaps apply some while showering and your pores are opened. Put it on first thing and let it soak in while going about the rest of your cleansing. How ever you use it, just be sure to use an aftershave to mask the odor. Otherwise, you might get attacked by rabid rascally rabbits thinking you are a salad.

Post shave would be best use. Olive oil will kill lather. Just be sure to use a very very small amount or you will need a shower again.

my mother worked for a fashion designer who actually had olive oil aftershave. but putting what i cook with on my face seemed a bit odd to me but this woman made every type of beauty product with olive oil and people loved it. i say try it after not before. i cant imagine trying to shave after applying olive oil, its hard to wash off your hands and with a SR in your hands?!?!?! ill pass on that one.

Hmm i would think that it would be the other way around? Doest soap kill oils? Not sure this would make it beneficial in the lather anyway though. Anyhow I will give it a shot post shave. I have been reading up on it and all you need is a drop or two at most on a towel and wipe down with it. I like natural stuff.

Well if they recommend it for use on babies skin then why not for ours?

My little one had some dry skin... used the olive oil and.... bam.... problem solved. He smelled like a chippy for a few days but it works!!!

I have been using a pre-shave oil made of mostly Olive oil for a very long time. I have no problem with lather at all or any other issue for that matter. On very cold days, I'll use a small amount on my hands and face keep them from drying out from the cold, dry air.
