Thumbs up List of quality American made straights.

Hello all, I'm a complete rookie to the world of straight razor shaving. I'm not even getting my first razor Christmas. Anyway, I was wondering about quality American made razors. The only ones I've really seen are Hart Steel. So who else is out there?

    Thanks, Sig

    Sig, welcome to SRP!

Here's a list, but contains some out of US makers. Many vintage razors are American also. Custom Straight Razors - Straight Razor Place Wiki

Hart Steel is the only modern manufacturer. There are some custom makers in the USA. You have to call them or they release a few razors to some web vendors. Straight Razor Designs generally has a selection of custom makers. Also, there are the older vintage makers too. Torrey, Genco, Top Flight come to mind at the moment. There are more but memory does not serve me well right now. Welcome to the site.

    Hi Sig,
For vintage razors, google "american razor makers". Several listings will come up. None are complete by any stretch. Watch 'straight razors' on ebay for a few weeks as well. You will see names from all over, but you will see a good many American. Be especially careful buying razors on ebay. Like looking at cars on a street with nothing but used car dealers. If you are interested in vintage razors, you may want to pick up a copy of the "Standard Guide to Razors" by Ritchie & Stewart. Will help you learn to judge the age and values.
