First SR Shave
Today I plucked up the courage to finally do it.......
I asked my wife if I could use my birthday present early as it was driving me nuts knowing it was there. Then I got to shaving!
I have to say, all in all, not a bad shave from a factory honed blade. I now take the point about the neck! It skipped a couple of times but I think it may have been me not tightening the skin enough. A few nicks but nothing life threatening.
My prep was a bit pants too and I rushed it a little wanting to try the razor. Didn't soak the beard enough in the hope the cream would compensate, a hasty coat of pre shave oil, lather and off we went.
I had to apply several coats of lather as it dried out a wee bit. Shaped beard fine, very awkward with 1 hand and trying to follow a line, and gave the neck a going over.
I'm not going to say 'I WISH I'D TAKEN MORE TIME ON PREP' I made a mistake I shan't make again, can't ask for more than that eh? The neck is a bit sore but no worse than a cartridge and nothing a coat of sudocreme won't sort out.
Overall, a better shave than I'm able to get at local barbers. They always leave my neck very stubbly as he did ATG once and made me bleed. I am one very happy bunny. The razor sings as it slices the bristle!
Very much looking forward to learning to shave properly now.
To get the right technique and learn with both hands the beard has to go!Last edited by DaveTheGeordie; 12-18-2012 at 01:21 AM.

Thanked: 6Welcome aboard, onwards and upwards. If you can't find an answer to a question you have in here, IMHO it's probably not worth knowing.

Ok, so in the cold light of day it appears like Sweeney Todd was practicing on me.
I've clearly over estimated how deftly I shaved my neck.
There are red lines which appear to be where the razor met the skin with the nicks that I mentioned in the last post. It didn't fell like I pressed or applied too much pressure at the time.
Help or advice?

Blade angle try laying the bladealmost flat on you face. little nicks from where the blade first touched the skin on a stroke are oftenb caused by the contact angle being too steep at the start of the stroke. a blade that is on your face and not moving will also leave you little presents.
enjoy,
