Thanked: 2Pakistan Blade
I see that everyone agrees that pakistan razor are junk. Is that for carbon blades only, or does that include stainless steel too? I just want to find out because someone is trying to sell me a straight that says stainless steel on the scale and it has the words "3T RAZOR" on the blade.

Thanked: 1936I've had a couple in my hands and the steel can't take an edge, that was carbon steel. I would put my hard earned money elsewhere.

I would listen to the words of advice. Stick to one of the major brands or surf some antique stores to find german or solenger (SP?) blades, they are really not hard to find and usually only a few bucks if you want one that is shave ready then pick up one off one of the venders here. Better yet meet with a local mentor or vendor if possible!

Not only are their razors junk but the strops and all the other stuff they make are too.

One thing I have found them useful for is grandchildren. My 8 year old grandchild saw me shaving with my straight and wanted to try it. I have one of the pakistani blades and made sure it was dull. In fact I practiced with it some time ago to get the feel of the blade on my skin and in my hand. I doubt it would cut anything other than butter so I lathered my grandson up and let him copy what I was doing. I told him when he is ready to shave for real I'll give him one of my blades.... At least he can start right.

Fond memories of doing just that with my grandfather. My uncles and dad inherited his razors which will pass to me one day. They're still in use after quite a few years use.
I'd have dad hone my razor but I live about 350 miles away.
Believe me your grandson will remember those little moments his life long.
