First I'm going to try and correct my lather and pressure on the blade then I'll take it from there. I'm getting good shaves but just a painful cost!

Shaving should definitely not be painful. I will sometimes shave a couple weeks worth of growth, which is no more painful for me than a day or two worth of growth (I have a fairly thick and coarse beard). To be clear, shaving is not painful for me at all. However, I have been learning to hone over the past few months and know the feeling you describe. If that pain were the routine cost of shaving, I would have a beard that was occasionally trimmed with scissors.

If I were in your position, I would certainly review techniques (lather, stropping, angle, et cetera...) and if you're still feeling pain and resistance, I would send your worst razor off for another honing and go from there.

So I have an update for you guys.... I listen to all of your advice..stropped slowly but surely.... used a pre shave oil and made sure that my lather was nice and thick with nice high peaks... and attacked my whole face from a different angle. Thanks to all of your advice I just had the best shave my life! Nearly bbs everywhere but at the least I achieved dfs on my whole face! Thanks so much for all your advice and a happy and healthy Holidays to everyone!
