    Default Strop paste progression

I have a linen strop with chromium oxide and a paddle with red and black dove past. I know I move from red to black but do I use the Cr before or after? I have seen conflicting reports on this. Also should I follow up with the pastes after coming of a 12k stone if I hone or do I just follow with the chromium oxide.

Depends on why you are using the paste.

If you are trying to get that extra bit of sharpness out of your blade then go 12k hone, to crox.

If you find the edge off your 12k stone to be harsh go to dovo black and stop.

If you don't think your getting everything out of your 12k stone then go dovo black, then crox.

If you are touching up an edge start with crox if that doesn't bring the edge back go to the dovo black or 12 k hone. If that doesn't work drop to the dovo red and then move back up the line to the dovo black or 12 k stone, then to crox

Then untreated linen, followed by leather.
