Default learning as i go i guess

ive been picking up some razors(not alot of them , and cheap) i consider trashed or below average for the sole purpose of experimenting with pin removal ,replacement , judging my limitations keeping blade level on the hones , ect . i know its not a science but i enjoy messing with the razors almost as i do the shave ... well i fool with my razors almost every day but im done for this weekend as i had a day that i would have pulled my hair out if it wasnt so short ...
    my chain of events today
ive been removing all my pins with drill press , after flattening them with cut off wheel on dremel , or small file , for me it has depended on how much of the pin is sticking out of the scales determines my method i have developed , but almost all hit the drill press ... till today i have not had one incident but today's made
    me sick ..lol
first pin out no prob ... well the hole is bigger then my washer so i cant peen it .. ugh .. then i have a perfect set of brown /black celluloid scales on a no so good blade .. hhmmm so i drill the pins out perfect !! going back into the house arms to my side and excited to rescale , SNAP ! i brush into the trim and snap the scales ... ur kidding me right ? sssoooo razor that comes in the mail today i only really bought cause it was on the lower end and had PERFECT horn scales that i figured i could atleast have them if i wanted to set a blade in ... well i should of left it alone but i wanted the scales on the blade i just finished ... collars were sunk into the horn so getting a file in was impossible so to the drill press i went , bolth out with no damage and about 45mins of light taps .. im feeling good now , first pin in , second pin in .. ooo ya she looks good but needs a few more taps to tighten her up ... last tap PPPPIIINNNGGG punch came of and broke my PERFECT horn scales !!!! so i had to rant about it .. so al though i think i have developed a good system of doing what im doing , i now know the true delicacy of old horn and i guess if i ever deal with it again and hope to i will take my time even more so and light taps are gonna be even lighter next time ..lol..AAAHHH the beginner and his struggles ...lol...
