If you bought the razor from Straight Razor Design, it is shave ready and honed by the best. I do not recommend that you strop it before shaving. If you shave with it first, you will learn the feel of a properly honed and sharp razor. You can compare all other honing jobs to your new razor.
Have fun and let us know how it goes!

I was about to ask what website that is until I clicked on it "Oh, Straight Razor Designs!" Yes, straights from SRD are truly as Shave-Ready as they come. Great business all around. I hang my strops on a door knob with an S hook.

People say not to use a door handle, but I find that that I can strop really well by tying the strop to my bathroom door handle. Of course, you'll want to make sure that the door is latched shut!

Yeah... It comes at a right height. I have a few towel hangers at home... but you know, me being a short guy, they all are somewhere around the level of my head!

Use a roll of velcro the roll you can cut to size, loop it through the hook of the strop, loop it around the door knob and cinch it down tight...wala, did it for months before i set up a stropping station, works great.
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

Yep... Just wipe the oil off the blade and shave..NO STROPPING ON THE FIRST SHAVE. I have my strop mounted belly button high . Take your time and after 100 shaves you will see a little improvement LOL
