Thanked: 1What should I do?
Ive been using a straight razor for 2 or 3 weeks now and am getting the hang of the shave, or at least not bleeding everywhere. But today while i was shaving it was mediocre i could actually see the blade going over the top of hairs which was a dead give away that i suck at stropping. I have a dinky 2" strop that came with my dovo cmon, i ordered a 3" with a felt to help me out while i learn to strop. So to my question should i send my blade back to have it rehoned or attempt to get it sharp again on my own? i bought it from classicedge.ca

Thanked: 334YES!!! A good stropping technique can keep an edge shave-ready for quite some time. Of course, the quality of the steel itself is also a factor. For example, I shave 2-3 times per week, and I usually have mine honed once per year. Of course, YMMV due to beard coarseness, how often you shave, etc.

Thanked: 334Rich --
Yes, an edge can become messed up that quickly, and IMO it is almost always due to operator error: poor stropping/honing can lead to a rolled edge; dinging the blade on the faucet or basin; the edge was poorly honed in the first place; or the steel itself is incapable of holding an edge.

There are members here who hone for a fee, look them up in the classified section, or let us know where your at. (not listed in your profile). Maybe someone close can assist you.
