    Question Left Hand?

I just started SR shaving (one of those lucky guys that gone one as a gift). I've seen some videos where they shave using their left (non-dominant hand), is this the norm? I'm having a hard time entrusting my left hand with something like this....

No worries. It takes alot of time just to start feeling comfortable holding a straight and even longer using your other hand. Keep at it and it will become easier.

It definitely gets easier with practice. Pay attention to what you are doing, though. I have gotten a pretty nasty cut on my left cheek when I let my attention wander. I never was good at using my left hand.

this is one area where being left-handed has helped me I think as a noob. Lefties are much more accustomed to using the "off" hand than righties, because so much of the world demands it.

Probably no help for you, sorry.

Some guys only shave with one hand, but I forced myself to learn using both because its proper and in the long run, easier. Here's an example of one of the guys from here, doing his thing.

    Default Left Hand?

I am great at using my left (I'm a lefty lol), my right is still shaky. Here is xALIx shaving with one of his razors. I wouldn't copy his technique, but use it as a guide to figure out your own method if you want to just use one hand. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0V5d...e_gdata_player

Yea, using your non dominant hand for anything feels awkward but putting a straight in it for the first time really makes you wonder. I am right handed so learning to use my left for shaving with a straight was an experience but going slowly and trying desperately not to loose concentration did the trick in the long run. It almost is second nature now. OTH I use only my right hand when I shave with a DE, go figure.

I just started shaving with a straight razor and initially thought it would be better to use my right hand for all of it, but cheeks and neck on left side is hard to see when crossing over so switched to using left. It's actually not so bad just have to concentrate on the blade angle but you can see what you're doing better
