Thanked: 0Hi, I just cam into possestion 6 straight razors
So the title says it all. Was at an estate sale and picked up a locked wood box for 10$ (Wasn't even locked! has a weird mechanism on it lol!) Perfecto Products box! I did a little research and this is what sales people would walk around carrying their straight razors in!
Basically 4 of the are EASILY restorable with the original (I believe original !) scales dirty with with some tarnish on the metal on scales. The blades have a small amount of patina/rust ( VERY little if any pitting).
The 4 that are restorable
1. S. R. Droescher/ Garwood N.J / Made in Germany
Blue Diamond 106
2. TWO Pear Duck/dubl duck / Solingen-Germany
One square point Goldedge
One round point Goldedge
The gold is worn off on ~65%
4. Giesen & Forsthoff/ Solingen
I don't shave because I have a baby face at 24 years old, so that brings me to my next qustion!!!!! Let me rephrase my question then!! Are these razors like the 75++ $ razors I am seeing on ebay? Ill put some pics up in a little bit.
The 2 razors that are in bad shap both have damage to the scales and VERY HEAVY RUSTING to th epoint some of the sharp edge is eaten away.
1 is a dubl duck SATIN EDGE
1 is a eicker & sohne biedermeier blade is slightly less rust but still unsalvagable.Last edited by doubled; 01-10-2013 at 04:25 AM.

Thanked: 10The sight rules prohibit posting of value but take some pics to see what needs to be done to restore. Then if you decide to sell most will tell you to look on ebay to get a general idea of what they are worth. Some on here may make an offer or you can sell them in the for sale area.

You won't get appraisals here.
This is similar to how I got started. Search around here. Find a hone at a sale. Next thing you know you will be cooling your blades in snow! {Inside joke}

This is correct. Appraisals are largely a matter of opinion on vintage items anyhow. Completed items in ebay is a good way to search for current market value of vintage/used razors.
Welcome to SRP. Though SRP won't allow appraisals we do have the best knowledge base for learning all about straight razors and shaving and maintaining them. If a person wants to go beyond those basics we have all you need to restore or even to begin forging your own.
Check out the beginner's guide in the SRP library here .

Here is the pics of the blue diamond, if yall could tell me the condition, and if it would affect value (not give me the value but would it effect value for me to restor it.

Is that a crack at the pivot ? If it is you'll need to rescale it. The blade looks okay for honing up to shave ready. If you could do all this yourself it wouldn't be a bad deal. If you have to send it out it I don't know. Restored it wouldn't be worth less than it is now.

The Dubl Duck with the blade eaten away needs to be isolated from the rest of the razors, and other metal items. The cause of the corrosion is the celluloid scales (handles). When they go bad they give off a corrosive gas that corrodes the metal. It can damage the other razors in an enclosed space, or right next to it in the open. It's called cell rot. There is no remedy or prevention measures you can take. Throw it away or isolate it on a shelf in the garage or something if you want to keep it for some reason.
Welcome, and enjoy the forum.
Best Regards,

Thanked: 2284Well, I'll drop the classic joke.
Send them to me and I'll give em a good look over, and testing to see if their any good. I'll sharpen them, shave with them, polish them, sing songs to them, and even rock them to bed at night. Then I'll send them back to you when I'm all done. Well, maybe my kids might. When I'm done with them I'll be dead!!Burls, Girls, and all things that Swirl....
