Thanked: 21 month in and it's getting better
I've been making a concerted effort to use a straight razor at least twice a week for last 5 weeks, and use my DE razor on other days. I have a "Famous Es-Exe" hollow ground and a 170+ year old "Joseph Elliot" wedge razor. Both have been professionally honed, polished and rescaled by Steve Dempster at The Invisible Edge in Malvern here in UK. After some serious razor burn on my neck and a couple of duelling scars on my cheek bones i'm getting more confident with each shave. I'm going WTG and XTG but am still using the DE to shave under my lips and the point of my chin as i find the straight razor difficult to do this area still.

Thanked: 6Don't worry about going back to using the DE for those areas, they're the 2 places that we all have trouble with. Those skills with develop in time. Good to hear you're sticking at it and you can always go back to a DE while any cuts heal.

I'm certain that in no time at all
your DE will be in hibernation.

My shaves started to get bearable at the 30 shave mark, and it wasn't until 60 shaves in that I was demonstrating any real competence. Now, a year later, I still improve with every shave.

Thanked: 8Seven months of exclusive shaves with a straight and it's still getting better. The big issues have been worked thru and for the most part I get great shaves pretty consistently. And...it's fun! Hang in there.

Thanked: 2Many thanks all of you, i'm starting to actually enjoy shaving now and don't just view as a daily chore to be endured.
