    Welcome to SRP.

Start with a lot of reading, specificly all the subjects in this search of the Library, the Beginner Tips, and do a search for any specific equipment you like. Also ask any questions you have.

Welcome! Keep reading here as much as you can. The link oni posted. Do not buy a razor until you do research. You want to find one that has been professionally honed as most don't come from the factory honed, even good ones. Watch plenty of videos too. Decide how much you want to invest and ask questions and let some of the senior members give you recommendations. Oh and get ready for a great addiction! Im a beginner too, been at it about 2 months and have already cracked out on it.

Welcome. This place has everything to get you started.
If you buy a razor + strop in the classifieds, and a cheap brush and some soap, you should be able to get started for about 100$. From that moment on, shaving becomes essentially free aside from the soap of course.

Be sure to register for the monthyl giveaway, and with some luck you can get started even cheaper.

G'day Brandyn, welcome to the forum. I believe you've already been pointed in the right direction, so I will leave it at that.

Welcome aboard!! It's great to see the young ones starting out on the "straight" path.
+1 to all that was said above. I would add, though, don't expect to master this overnight. Expect to put in some time learning the techniques, take your time, and most of all ..... have fun!

No we have at least one other bloke here (deerhunter) who started younger, and is probably not much older now.

As everyone has said before make sure you do research here on SRP before buying a razor. I would suggest looking into getting a DE too for those times when you might not have the time to use the straight, or just to touch up your face because in the beginning your shaves will not be the best and will need to be touched up.

Since you're 16 I am assuming money might be an issue but once you get the initial purchase out of the way, shaving with straights can be the cheapest way to shave. If money is tight look at whippeddog.com, tweezerman has a good starter brush on amazon.com for about ten bucks, there are a lot of good soaps for around ten bucks too. You can probably pick up some Williams or Van Der Hagen for only a couple bucks at some stores like target, cvs, etc. and find an old mug or bowl that won't be missed and you're set. Maybe pick up an aftershave balm too.
