Thanked: 26Best $10 dollars I ever spent!
I just bought this Illuminated LED Zoom Microscope for under $10. It has a zoom from 60 to 100 with a base to slide the blades edge across. It is so made for people who use straight razors. I now can see my edge perfectly. I did buy a loupe but this is much better. I did buy and return Radio shacks as it was useless. Its nice to see the edge at every stone grade. Setting the bevel at 1k and seeing it is awesome.
It's a Illuminated LED zoom Microscope part# MW10085 see down below for more infoLast edited by smoothface; 01-22-2013 at 03:36 AM. Reason: added text

I have one, it was in a thrift store store, when I found it.
It took a little practice for me to follow a bevel all the way down the blade hitting the clear light cover.
I like the loupe because it is fast for me, & I just string it around my neck when antique store hunting.

Thanked: 26It is a Illuminated LED zoom microscope part number is MW10085 They sell from$4.79 to $13 all over the internet. I paid $7.56 at my local electronic store. I popped the metal holder off the base and ran a piece of leather on the back as a safety. My loupe is only a 30 so a 60 to 100 is sweet.

Was gonna say, those metal clips could give you lots of honing practice.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Thanked: 2591Placing the razor like that on the base may mess up the edge, but f you learn to use it hand held it is a super useful tool.
I have been using those for a few years now and they are the best cheap scopes for the job.Stefan
