Thanked: 7Thanks, plus razor modification question.
Thanks for the responses. Still would love to meet up with other NYC straight users for coffee, a drink, discussion, etc.
Here's the question: Can a razor with a square or Spanish tip (not sure of terminology) be ground down and converted to a round tip? I have a lovely Wacker bought from this site but the tip presents problems for my angular skinny neck, particular for the depressions on either side of my Adam's apple.

I don't convert square pointed razors or spikes, but I do very gently mute the tip by running it over something mildly abrasive like the side of an 8K stone. This doesn't change the shape, is easy to correct and bring it back to sharpness, but it does reduce the risk of cutting unintentionally.

Yes it could but I would advise you not to do it. First of all it would be expensive, second of all it would take away value from the razor as is. My suggestion is to put it away. I too have a skinny neck with nooks and crannies, hollow spots and what have you. In 3 to 6 months you will be able to navigate you physiognomy with that razor just as easily as with a round point. BTW, round points are more common than the other grinds but they are not as attractive to buyers in the used market.

When you realize you just shaved at 4 in the morning with you eyes shut and sipping coffee with a bit of lather in it at the same time, you know you got a hang of it!
