Thanked: 3Oh Yea!
Ok so I was a momo and messed up the blade on my new razor. After the tutelage of this group I honed it using the pyramid system and got my new strop. Stropped the heck out of it and walla! Just got out of the shower, shaved, and BAM! Three passes awesome! My face is so smooth ! I am touching it all the time. Oh well. I feel the need to tell everyone about my new hobby. Have to keep myself in check!
The small issue of the day is that I put a couple of marks on my new strop. Nothing crazy, but I was gentle and don't know how to do it without further hurting it. Any suggestions appreciated. All in all awesome!

Congrats on the shave!
when you say small marks on the strop do you mean nicks? little surface nicks are not a problem normally. as long as the nick soes not interfere with your stropping you can let them be... pictures would help though

Thanked: 3Yea just little nicks but its a brand new heavy duty strop and I only used it once. I am not blaming the strop I'm sure it's my technique I just don't know how to be more careful

well not sure what to say the only way to nick a strop is by not having the spine leading or trying to flip it over on the edge as opposed to flipping it over the spine. perhaps you can slow down a little in your stropping particularly near the end of each stroke and most nicks occur when we are trying to flip the razor somedays you are not paying attention and you flip before completeting the strok and you have a dull razor and a strup nearly cut off the hanger.
no worries everybody, if they are honest has done it. if the flaps are large rubber cement will hold them down.
enjoy,

Congrats on having everything come together for a great shave - it sure is nice when that happens, especially the first time!
If you want more info on stropping - here's a great place to start:

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
