Thanked: 0A little help in Ellicott City, Baltimore and the DC area?
Hey, I am brand spanking new to this, and well i bought a "shave ready" razor on ebay, but it doesn't seem all that sharp. I have yet to buy a strop or even a brush. I'd love some recommendations as to stores in the area where I could get my razor looked at and buy the rest of my supplies. If online is really the best place, I'd understand, but I'd prefer not trying to hone my first SR.

Here are a list of professional honers on SRP http://straightrazorpalace.com/class...wcat.php?cat=4. They will charge you some dough for honing. As far as brick and mortar stores you are really limited. You will have Art of Shaving and the Grooming Lounge. The former is really set up to sale their soap, balms and pre shaves. They do keep some other supplies on hand but you will pay out the but for them. The Grooming Lounge will have a few things too such as soaps and creams that you really can only find online. However, IMO, you best bet is to use one of the online vendors and talk to them. I recommend Straight Razor : Double Edge Razor : Shaving Products Supplies : Merkur Safety Razor : Badger Shaving Brush : Men's Grooming Products : VintageBladesllc.com. They have a good selection and they are based in Maryland. They are not the only online vendor. I am just making the recommendation due to proximity of your location. Good Luck.
