My method matches Howard's, except I do drop my "puck" into a sink of hot water for 10-15 seconds to start loosening up its surface.

Because I change soaps daily, I don't keep them in the mug, and they don't stick to the bottom. To keep the puck from sliding around too much, I just hold the mug at about a 45-degree angle, letting gravity hold the puck to the bottom edge of the cup. Besides, I only rub the ends of the brush _lightly_ on the puck, getting the soap on the ends of the bristles, so that sliding around isn't a huge problem. Then, I build the lather up on my face for about 2 minutes. As necessary, I'll add a little hot water to the bristle tips (but not rinsing the brush as I do this).

    Have fun!

I tried that light touch with the bristle thing today. Got the worst shave of my life. First time I've managed to find simple irritation since starting to shave with a straight.
