    Default Brand new here.

This is my first post and I'm really happy to find this place. I really want to start using a straight razor and just ordered the Lynn DVD. I currently use the MACH3 Fusion. I also use a silver tipped badger hair brush (the art of shaving) with my ZIRH shave cream. The ZIRH shave cream has aloe vera and makes my skin feel great after my shave. I follow up my shave with Anthony Ingrown Hair treatment and after that dries I put on a nice layer of Anthony oil free moisturizer. I use oil free so it wont clog the pores and allows the ingrown treatment to work. I also shave in the shower. The only thing I'm missing is the srtaight razor and that's why I'm here

Welcome aboard. Read up on the help files and check out the honing/strops forums. They're extremely informative. Someone's always here to answer your questions. Using a straight will make that Anthony ingrown hair thingamajig a thing of the past.

So, do yuo have a sstraight razor in mind already? Which one? Careful to keep away from some of the inferior products that may be found in beauty supply shops or on eBay. Post a URL or specs on this thread, so the community cn let you know if you're getting an acceptable razor and deal.

Don't forget that you'll need a strop as well for daily shaving. Something for touch-up honing will ned to be acquired too.

Do you plan on shaving with the straight in the shower?

In other words, we do not recommend shaving with a straight in the shower.

I'm just starting out and dont have a razor in mind yet although, I am looking. There is so much to learn it's almost overwhelming. Before I buy a razor I will post on here to make sure it's a good one. I have heavy facing hair thats grows pretty fast. I always have the 5'oclock shadow at 3pm . I wanted to keep shaving in the shower but, after reading some posts it might be a good idea to go back to the sink after my shower. I'm really looking forward to trying this out.

    Smile Welcome, canman23

One thing you might find is that dilligence with the straightrazor will give you the closest shave of our life AND drastically reduce or eliminate ingrown hairs. That's because the straight blade sweeps away the top dying layer of skin which the hairs usually get caught up on.

I think that's the polite way of explaining to us newbies you are about slice the top layer of your skin off your face when you shave. But don't worry the blade will be so sharp you won't notice.

Good one Stacy! But you forgot to mention that Tony's strops are laced with an anesthetic that's also addictive so you think you actually enjoy the experience

So that's why you all push those strops harder than a dealer pushing pot on the corner!

On a serious note, I really do wish I had learned of Tony's strops before I bought my Dovo, not that it's a bad strop, just Tony's are much nicer and larger for purt near the same money. But hey now I have more ideas for the birthday list! If I can wait till September.
