    Default Straight Razor wins again!!

So I've been having some decent shaves the last couple times.. been telling myself that maybe i just caught on quickly and am doing just fine. Well that ego of mine made me pick up the razor again and go to town. Little too comfortable with the razor tonight and this ego/max relaxed attitude didn't fair me well because my face is not only on fire but recovering from a couple nasty nicks... or maybe 5 nicks but hey who's counting...good lesson learned tonight on how to stay focused and pay attention to what I'm doing.... Until we meet again Straight razor!! until we meet again!!

When I set out my kit to shave I always take out the styptic pencil and look at it for a second, then set it on the counter.
This is to remind me that this is a razor...
Forget to take it out = you are getting a nick/weeper/cut...

    Good shaving...

+1 to this. The first thing I do is take out the styptic. My reason is I don't want to have to fumble around for it when I need it. I just want it to be as readily available as possible.

Shaving with facial hair is like a golfcourse. It's a challenge of rough and fairways. You are the skilled greenskeeper of your face?

I know the feeling, some days you're on fire, some days, it's an epic fail. But hey. look on the bright side, " chicks dig scars "

A few weeks ago I was trying to combine shaving with MST3K to create some kind of hybrid nirvana. All was well and fun until I was setting up to perform a XTG pass where the cheek meets the chin and a joke made me do a closed mouth laugh. It really is amazing how fast and deep a razor can cut when you shave parallel to the blade! Lesson learned: A razor craves attention and demands respect.

Wow. I have not heard a mystery science theatre reference in ages.

Been there, done that. I had one special weekend shave early on where I should have stopped, & kept on cutting. I looked like I'd been attacked by tiny ninjas for about a week & one of the scars on my left cheek is still visible.

I also tried to slice the side of my finger off last Friday polishing the blade,

only my nail stopped it going any further, that was fun & requires wearing a plaster for the next few weeks because I keep knocking that finger....& I had to touch up the blade again (at least I'm getting practice honing) because I knackered the edge with blood & flesh.

If you forget for a second how sharp these things are they will bite you. Surely that's what makes it manly.
