New to Straight Razor shaving - Help needed
Hello everybody,
I'm brand new to SR-shaving and looking to purchase my first razor. I have browsed the net but I don't know what to go for when it comes to razor and strops etc.
I'm looking for a razor that is beginner friendly and easy to strop. Preferably one of the well known brands.
Max price set to around $200.
I have also considered going for vintage but here I am even more lost so help is needed.
So I'm hoping you experts can give me som pointers on what to start with. Razors and strop and other equipment needed. I have all the regular stuff for DE shaving.
Thanks in advance.

Thanked: 983Well if you just want to a decent starters kit, you won't go wrong with a sight unseen deal from whipped.com. These are all pre-loved razors that are shave ready. Add on a poor mans strop kit and your set with the gear you've already got. New gear can be got from SRD.com and the raor will come shave ready. All the razors sold on that site are respectable brand names. Hope that is a helpful start to your search mate.

A straight razor and strop set at Straight Razor Designs was the way I went and was very happy. You can get the Lynn Abrams DVD at a reduced price with each set, I believe, which is very informative. Good luck!

I also went with a kit from Straight Razor Designs and I highly recommend the DVD from Lynn. I went with the Dovo Best quality. I would recommend getting a 3" strop (a lot easier to learn on). Also the SRD strop is great because you can order replacement leather pieces since you are going to knick the heck out of your strop while you learn. Plus you can email them and they will help you choose...
