    Default What is sooo frustrating

I'm a newbie, about 2 months in. This morning, I brought out all the good stuff I have. My nice big scuttle, my Cleveland Cutlery from Obie, the sandalwood shaving cream instead of my VDH. Beautiful in two passes. One spot along the jaw line I wanted to clean up. It wasn't necessary but would have made for a really good shave. I'm doing some buffing strokes along the jaw line and...bam. Nick. I don't mind the occasional nicks. I'm new, I get that it will happen, but when it happens on that unnecessary third pass/clean up...sooo frustrating.

As I put on the Alum Block and the Pinaud Clubman, the sting is a good reminder to pay attention through the last stroke!

That second you get too comfortable and your attention wanes...she'll jump up and bite ya!

Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

Keep in mind that buffing is considered an advanced technique, one that works very well when you have experience and are very comfortable wielding a razor. Don't worry, it will come naturally with time and practice.

Same thing kinda happened to me.. although this nick was a good one.. spent more time trying to get it to stop bleeding than actual shaving.. definitly feel your frustration

Real men use cold hard steel, not those namby pamby multiblade instruments used by woosey shavers. The nicks and cuts are signs of machisimo.

No matter what stroke you use, if you really, I mean REALLY, minimize pressure, it's hard to cut yourself.
