Thanked: 0How to use proraso tubed creme
I've been shaving with a SR for six months and all is well now but the first couple of shaves where rough even with guidance from Shave Nation (Awesome site for all shaving needs by the way). I use Edwin Jagger Sandle wood shave creme and love it but I'm getting more and more curious about proraso products. How are they as far as quality and to get to my main question, can you use the tube of proraso like a shave soap? I.E. squeez a little in a mixing bowl and use a badger brush? And if not how do you use it?

Welcome aboard.
I have a mixing bowl ( size enough to be held in my left hand), 6 drops of glycerin in the bottom 1 1/2 inches of C.O. Bidgelow (made by Proraso, I believe) in the bottom, appropriate amount of hot water added, swish it around to mix & loosen the Bigelow, my brush has been soaking in warm water, pull out the brush & start whippng the Bigelow in the bowl, as my preshave is on my face.

Thanked: 20Proraso, Is a very good product. I use both, the tube and out of the tube. Add a little in your shave bowl and whip it up with your brush. It will give a great shave. The scent is an earthy type of scent and I do enjoy it.

You can facelather it too. I used to lather mine in a bowl but it just takes more time. I soak my brush, shake some water out of it, squeeze a bit of the cream on the brush and rub it on my wet face. Way faster then the bowl, but it doesn't stay warm for the 2nd and 3rd pass.

So the short answer is; yes, what ever your favorite way to use your Edwin Jagger, Proraso will work the same way. In my opinion it's top quality stuff. It's a fraction of the price of most of the French or English creams, but don't let that worry you.

Thanked: 3226Yea, that is the easiest way to use any cream including Proraso and works just fine. I don't worry too much about the lather staying warm as I do cold water shaves so you really don't even need hot water to make a good lather. Proraso is very good but if you have sensitive skin stay away from the menthol version. Had a tub of green Proraso gifted me by a member whose skin could not take it.

I love Proraso tube cream, the green and the blue.
I soak my brush in hot water ,squeeze the excess water out, then add an amount of cream to the tip of the brush and start working it in a bowl with a few drops of water. After a min of mixing ill add a few more drops of water and repeat until i get a really rich lather and the more you mix the better the lather.
I think one of the best Proraso items is the afterburn lotion .It has alcohol in it but the smell of that stuff is unbeatable imo..
