    Default 3rd shave

well, my mach3 lies dormant (dead?) for the third day in a row. Each day it gets easier. The lather is closer to optimum, the stubble more saturated, the razor burn less. I'm taking my time. No longer afraid of the shaver, it becomes a familiar part of the day. Granted, it takes me roughly 10 minutes to shave, but I expect to improve little by little.

10 minutes is very quick. I'd say slow down a little. It's not worth the slip-up.

Otherwise, congrats. It's a rewarding feeling isn't it. Just stay focused and you should continue to get great shaves.

Slow down is right. I do a DE shave in a bout ten minutes, if I'm in a hurry. I can stretch a straight shave out to an hour if I want to luxuriate but my average is about twenty to twenty five minutes. Take your time and enjoy it, Stop and smell the Trumpers Rose.

Depends on how you measure it. Just the shave itself is maybe 10 minutes, the prep and cleanup is what takes the time...

Yes this str8 thing is pretty cool huh? I just finished my 5th str8 shave tonight. I shave at night because it relaxes me for bed and I don't feel rushed. Takes me about 20 min for 2 passes or 45 min for the hot towel treatment. Every shave gets easier and closer. No nicks the last 2 shaves although a little red after the 2nd pass. I too went from a mach3 to a str8.

I've also gotten addicted to Pinauld Clubman aftershave. I don't know what it is about that scent but it just seems to go perfectly with the str8.

I'm going to wait a bit until I try the second pass. Right now, with an imperfected technique such as mine, i might be pushing my skin to new levels of irritation.

that being said, this sure is fun. I used to use pinaud back when i was using a gilette safety razor (about two years ago, i put the safety away and went back to the mach3...i still regret this).
